Torte De Lini

Torte de Lini is what some would call a “diversity hire” that would delight most corporate HR departments. Son of a refugee, an Egyptian-Jewish father, and Ecuadorian mother, Michael ‘Torte de Lini’ Cohen(-Palacios) is not white enough to dodge “random searches” at airports but that hasn’t stopped him from traveling the world with a 13-year career in esports working with teams, investment start-ups, studios and major tournament events. A true testament to how far he can stretch his Sociology degree into conversation and relevance.

Now, hidden in The Netherlands on a Swiss passport, despite being an American and French-Canadian, Michael retreats to his Amsterdam apartment avoiding life by doing what he does best: “playing video games” as an attempt for a living.

When he does go outside to check the time through persistent sun-staring, Michael Cohen also enjoys movies, television shows as well as food (as you might’ve presumed). Don’t ask him his top 5 of anything unless you want to practice your listening skills.

Otherwise, you can check him out on stream where he still plays Dota 2: a game that has never loved him back for 20 years and once in awhile, he’ll try out the latest hot thing the kids are playing, just so he can be reminded that he’s long past his prime like that chateaubriand you’re saving in the freezer for “a good day” that’ll never come
